The group was motivated by the lack of accessibility in remote areas where power may not be readily available at all times. This project could provide a solution to manually produce a source of power at all times under harsh Arctic condition. The main purpose of this project was to create a device that could charge a cellular device (5V) while in a place that has limited sources of energy. One of the main objectives was to make the charger as portable as possible, so the user could charge while on the move. The exact motivation of the project was to create a portable charger for a user that would utilize it under the Arctic conditions, ideally, the charger would also be water-resistant so it would be durable enough to last a trip in sub-zero weather. The device should be powered from human motions, since it is easily and readily dispensable. Additionally, a simple interface would be advantageous since when using the device, it should not be confusing to operate. Finally, the device should store significant power (10 Ahr) so it could be reused once when the client needs power again.
